NBA Player News

  • Jason Collins C - ATL: Jason Collins (elbow)... Feb 4, 11:11AM

Jason Collins (left elbow sprain) will miss at least two weeks, the Hawks announced on Saturday. This is a tough loss for a Hawks team already without Al Hoford. Zaza Pachulia will get all the playing time he can handle, while unheralded and undersized Ivan Johnson continues to prove his worth in a bench role.

  • Charlie Villanueva PF - DET: Villanueva (ankle) out... Feb 4, 11:07AM

Charlie Villanueva's sore ankle will be 'partially immobilized' for the next few weeks, after which he will be re-evaluated. After multiple tests and doctor visits, it has been determined that Villanueva has "resolving posterior tibial tenosynovitis with small talotibal spurs." It doesn't take a medical degree to determine that CV isn't anywhere close to being healthy, let alone productive.

  • Marcus Morris PF,F - HOU: Rockets send Marcus... Feb 4, 10:40AM

As expected, the Rockets assigned rookie Marcus Morris to the D-League on Friday. Morris hasn't practiced much due to a sprained ankle that was bothering him, but he's ready to play now. The Rockets are headed out on a long road trip and Kevin McHale said "Marcus is going down to the D-League to get some good, much-needed running, playing up and down, then he'll come up after that."

  • Carmelo Anthony F - NY: Mike D'Antoni's job... Feb 4, 10:34AM

Knicks writer Marc Berman reports that Mike D'Antoni "will not be fired [on Saturday] ... disputing a report earlier this week." Berman writes that "D'Antoni may not be able to afford losing to the Nets in the last game of [New York's] back-to-back-to-back set." The Knicks have a top-heavy roster and no reliable guard play, and a quick turnaround seems more remote every day.

  • Kevin Garnett PF,C - BOS: Kevin Garnett making... Feb 4, 10:28AM

Kevin Garnett has made a three-pointer in each of his past two games. "I don't want to become the new Rasheed Wallace of the league," KG said after the game. "[But] don't get it twisted. I do have that." Garnett has only attempted the two 3s all season, so there's no reason for excitement, but watch to see if he begins attempting more in the coming weeks.

  • Kenyon Martin PF - LAC: Kenyon Martin to join... Feb 4, 10:06AM

Kenyon Martin is expected to join the Clippers by Sunday or Monday, but he won't play in a game until "a few days" afterward. K-Mart will be the team's third big man behind DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. He's a nice fit for the Clippers but isn't a likely source of reliable fantasy value -- last season he averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in 48 games with Denver.

  • Chris Kaman PF,C - NO: Chris Kaman expected to... Feb 4, 10:02AM

Chris Kaman is likely to re-join the Hornets prior to Monday's game vs. the Kings. The Hornets will still listen to offers for Kaman and the pro-rated portion of his $14 million salary, as they're more interested in developing their young frontcourt players. We're not expecting Kaman's numbers to improve until he's dealt elsewhere.
